Talvio, Chong top Rebels honored

Senior Tuomas Talvio and sophomore Tracie Chong were the top student-athletes honored at the 24th Annual UNLV scholar-athlete honors luncheon Wednesday at Thomas & Mack Center.

Talvio, a forward on the men's soccer team, was commended for being the top male student-athlete at the university with the highest grade-point average. It marked the third consecutive year Talvio earned the honor. Talvio, a native of Finland, has a 3.87 GPA in finance.

Chong was the top female student-athlete honored with a 3.90 GPA in computer engineering. She leads the 22nd-ranked UNLV tennis team in victories this season with a 23-8 record.
