A $28 million plan for a public golf course on 640 acres of federal property in North Las Vegas was endorsed by the City Council on Wednesday.
The 72-hole Coyote Canyon Golf Club is being proposed by Jeff Jones, a Professional Golfers Association club professional and the owner of Diverse Sports. Jones said he has been speaking with Bureau of Land Management officials about purchasing BLM land for the project.
If negotiations for the BLM land are successful, Jones said he could break ground in six months and have a course open within 18 months.
If built, the course would offer affordable golfing, Jones said.
The Coyote Canyon Golf Club, featuring three 18-hole courses and one lighted 18-hold par-3 course, would charge North Las Vegas residents $35 for a round of golf, and residents from the surrounding area $45 per round, Jones said.
