Letter: Dowd column aids the enemy
Thursday, April 3, 2003 | 9:15 a.m.
I am not sure how old New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd is, but I do remember the Vietnam War and I do remember the same cynicism used in the columns back then that I read in her column, which was published in the Sun on Tuesday.
As far as I am concerned, every negative column during this time of war leads to the deaths of American military personnel, because it usually raises the morale of the enemy.
Maybe Dowd should go to one of the military academies and become a general, and then she could help in drawing up battle plans and gathering detailed information concerning the enemy. If nothing else, at least she would know what she is talking about. I have a very definite problem with armchair generals or armchair politicians -- I have a great disdain for them.
Dowd's column did everything but accuse the administration of being senile. I would strongly suggest she remember 9-11 and the many innocent victims who died there. Also remember that some of the people who read Dowd's column are the parents, wives, husbands, children and grandparents of the soldiers now in Iraq.
