Rebels top S. Utah

UNLV used a pair of big innings to send Southern Utah's baseball team to its seventh consecutive defeat, 8-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Cedar City, Utah.
The Rebels improved to 23-9 and the Thunderbirds slipped to 7-11.
Rebel starter Giovanni Pupo (2-0) earned the win. He gave up one unearned run on three hits with three strikeouts in five innings.
Matt Wagner threw two innings, giving up one run on three hits with a strikeout. Ben Scheinbaum and Shane Clatterbuck combined to finish the game with an inning each. Neither gave up a hit.
Brent Johnson finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and Ryan Ruiz added two RBIs.
