For the third time in three days, a young Rebel stepped up at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga., and the UNLV men's golf team held on Sunday to finish third.
Mitch Carlson (71-74-68--213), a freshman from Durango High School, carded the best score of his young career with a four-under 68 at The Farm Golf Club.
The round moved the Rebels (856) to eight-under and kept them one shot ahead of Florida (278-284-295--857), who collapsed after leading for the first two rounds.
Top-ranked Clemson (850) won.
First-round leader Robert Gamez of Las Vegas finished with a 72 for a total of 273 to win $17,300.
