Letter: Democrats deserve apology
Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 | 6:07 a.m.
As a Democrat, I was dismayed by the statement made by President Bush, implying that Senate Democrats were not interested in the security of the American people. That statement is simply not the truth.
One of our valiant Democratic senators, Daniel Inouye from Hawaii, lost an arm in World War II. I feel like Inouye and other brave veterans were very interested in, and sacrificed for, our nation's security and freedom.
To say cruel things that upset and hurt other people is not very tolerant and very uncalled-for. It is a slam at the Senate Democrats. In my opinion, the Democrats of the Senate deserve an apology from our president of the United States. So far, they have not received one.
