Wells names top Nevada managers

Wells Fargo Bank Nevada promoted two executives Wednesday to top leadership positions in the state.

Kirk Clausen, currently working in Reno, becomes regional president and will move to Las Vegas.

Jay Kornmayer, a longtime commercial banking executive in Las Vegas, becomes chairman for Wells Fargo Bank Nevada.

They succeed Laura Schulte, who held both positions and was promoted to a position in Southern California overseeing Wells Fargo community banking for California and Nevada.

Clausen will report to Schulte, Kornmayer will report to Wells' California-based commercial banking operation.

Clausen will be responsible for the 104 Wells Fargo branches in Nevada. He began his career at Norwest Bank (which later acquired Wells Fargo) in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1975, serving in positions including loan officer and retail bank manager. Later, after working with Norwest Investment Services, Clausen was named vice president of Norwest Bank Wisconsin and eventually was named executive vice president and Northern Nevada regional manager in 1999.

Kornmayer, a Nevada native and 28-year veteran of Wells Fargo Nevada, leads the Nevada Regional Commercial Banking Offices and is also responsible for gaming industry lending in the company's 23 banking states. Kornmayer is also currently chairman of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. He will continue to lead the Nevada commercial lending business while representing Wells Fargo in public affairs and community roles.
