Henderson Pavilion box office opens
The box office is now open for the Henderson Pavilion, the largest amphitheater in the state, which will host concerts, Shakespeare in the Park and other cultural events.
Box office hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and closed on Family Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
The pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, has permanent seating for 2,500, with overflow seating for up to 5,000.
Box office staff will be available to provide ticketing details and other information on coming events sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, call 384-TICS.
Walk-a-thon to raise funds to fight diabetes
The Nevada Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will hold a 5K walk-a-thon at 8 a.m. Saturday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to raise money to help in the research of diabetes.
There is no cost to register. Participants solicit sponsors who will pledge money for the walk.

Positively Kids benefits from doughnut sales
Customers can purchase $5 scratch cards at any LaMar's Donut location for a chance to win an autographed golf cap from PGA TOUR pros playing in the 2002 Invensys Classic at Las Vegas.
The program introduces "Caps That Care," which will benefit the Foundation for Positively Kids. In addition, each purchased scratch card is good for a 2-for-1 discount on tickets to the Invensys Classic.
The vision of the Foundation of Positively Kids is to create the premier pediatric skilled nursing facility in Nevada, which provides 24-hour nursing care and and therapies to medically fragile and terminally ill children and offer support and training to the families.
