LAGUNA PUEBLO, N.M. -- Laguna Pueblo is one step closer to building a new casino.
Pueblo officials announced on Monday that they had negotiated a deal with Wells Fargo Bank to finance the planned casino.
"Now that we have this critical component in line, we are proceeding full steam ahead," Jerry Smith, president of Laguna Development Co., said.
Laguna Gov. Harry Early said his administration and the Tribal Council have watched the project develop "and can clearly see the benefits it will bring to the pueblo."
The planned Route 66 Casino will be 12 miles west of Albuquerque off Interstate 40 and would employ 700 people.
