Silver endorses Roger for DA despite primary campaign

Republican district attorney candidate David Roger picked up a surprise endorsement Monday from the woman who just weeks ago was questioning his campaign contributions.
Abbi Silver, a deputy chief district attorney whom Roger beat in the Republican primary, announced Monday that she was backing Roger.
"I believe he's the best candidate and the right person to lead the office, despite our spirited primary," Silver said.
Roger, also a deputy chief district attorney, noted that Silver's supporters were loyal to her and said he appreciates the endorsement.
"I'm hopeful that they'll come to my side," Roger said.
Roger beat Silver 65 to 35 percent. Davidson bested Democrat Dawn Hooker 65 to 35 percent.
Democrat Mike Davidson, the assistant district attorney, said he was surprised Silver was endorsing either candidate. However, he downplayed the importance of the endorsement.
"I think an awful lot of the people who were supporting her will be supporting me," Davidson said.
Davidson said Silver's supporters were likely not Roger supporters, despite the common GOP threads.
"I think most of the people are sophisticated enough to make their own judgments," Davidson said.
Clark County has 28,000 more Democrats than Republicans, according to the most recent registration totals available.
