A federal lawsuit alleging racial discrimination by the Clark County School District in its hiring processes has been dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Lloyd George.
The suit was filed by E. Louis Overstreet, who alleged that he was passed over for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Transportation in 1997 because he is black.
George dismissed the case with a written decision that states that Overstreet did not lose out to other candidates because of the color of his skin.
The school district conducted a nationwide search to fill the position, and a board screened 45 applicants for the job. The candidates where whittled down to five finalists, of which Overstreet was one.
Patrick Herron, who is white, was hired.
"The record establishes that Overstreet was treated the same as the other non-successful, white finalists," George's order read.
