Blood found in home may belong to missing woman

Monday, Sept. 23, 2002 | 10:45 a.m.

Blood found at the home of a missing Las Vegas couple has been determined to have come from a female and is consistent with the blood belonging to Shirley Rundle, police said.

Rundle and her husband, William Rundle, were last seen at their home on Aug. 17 and were reported missing by a family member.

Metro Police homicide Sgt. Rocky Alby said that detectives are treating the investigation as a homicide.

"We are comparing the blood to her daughter, and it is consistent," Alby said. "We know it's female, and we know it's not his (William Rundle's)."

Metro Police searched the Rundle home in the 4700 block of Poppywood Drive, near Tropicana Avenue and Buffalo Drive, earlier this month and discovered the blood. A note was found saying they were going out of the country for a family emergency, but relatives were contacted in the Philippines and reported there was no emergency, and they had not seen the couple, police said.

The couple's 2001 white, four-door Buick with Nevada license plate, "HONEYBUN," is also missing.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
