UNLV will hold 3 baseball camps
The UNLV baseball team will hold three instructional camps at Wilson Stadium this fall and winter.
The UNLV Baseball Hitting Academy will meet on Monday evenings from Sept. 23 through Oct. 28, the Thanksgiving Showcase Camp will be held Nov. 23-24 and the Holiday Camp, featuring former UNLV star and current Arizona Diamondback Matt Williams, is set for Dec. 27-30.

Lacroix scores 10 goals in local tournament
Wally Lacroix scored 10 goals and had four assists as Crystal Place of Las Vegas skated past the Oregon Razorbacks 16-3 in 30-over division play at the 2002 USA Hockey InLine Cup at Crystal Palace. In another game involving a Las Vegas team, Larry Sandford had three goals and three assists to pace the Crystal Palace 40-over team to a 12-9 decision over the El Paso Polar Bears.
The event runs through Sunday at the Crystal Palace Sports Complex.
Senate committe OKs federal commission
Sen. John McCain's bill to create a government commission to clean up boxing and protect the health of fighters was approved by a Senate committee Thursday.
A new U.S. Boxing Administration would license all boxers, promoters, referees and judges and oversee professional bouts in the United States.
Promoters would be required to submit a copy of contracts with fighters to help prevent them from taking advantage of young fighters. The administration would also test boxers for infectious diseases and maintain their medical records.
Ex-Rebel coach opts to leave Milwaukee
Former UNLV coach Tim Grgurich became the third assistant coach to leave the Milwaukee Bucks during this offseason when he gave up his job Thursday.
Grgurich has returned to Las Vegas and is exploring opportunities with a couple of West Coast teams, said his agent, Warren LaGarie.
Grgurich, whose contract ends next week, also worked with Bucks head coach George Karl in Seattle.
Extradition sought for alleged fixer
A U.S. request arrived in Italy to extradite the man accused of fixing the Salt Lake City Olympic figure skating.
But Luca Saldarelli, the lawyer for reputed Russian mobster Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov, said extradition hearings might not begin for several weeks.
