Lightweight title fight postponed because of injury

An injury to Jose Luis Castillo has forced his Oct. 5 rematch with lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be postponed, officials at Top Rank Inc. announced this morning.
The fight had been scheduled for the Mandalay Bay Events Center and slated to be televised by Home Box Office (HBO).
Castillo has severe tendinitis of the left ankle stemming from an injury he sustained while training in Mexico. He has been unable to work out recently, said promoter and president of Top Rank Inc. Bob Arum.
The fight will be rescheduled at a later time, possibly in December or early next year.
Mayweather, 28-0 with 20 knockouts, took a disputed 12-round decision over Castillo (46-5-1, 42 KOs) on April 20 in Las Vegas to capture the lightweight title.
Tickets purchased for the bout may be utilized for the new date when it is announced. For refunds, tickets must be returned to the point of purchase.
