Due to an increase in the number of people playing paintball in the Spring Mountains area, the U.S. Forest Service is reminding the public that such activities are banned.
Paintball is banned in the areas of Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon, Cold Creek, Lovell Canyon, Mount Potosi, Trout Canyon, and Carpenter Canyon.
More than 4 million people a year participate in some form of recreation within the Spring Mountains Recreation Area, according to Forest Service officials. Paintball poses a safety concern to others and can damage the area.
Participating in paintball activities that damages property is a misdemeanor crime, punishable by up to a $5,000 fine or six months in jail.
