One teen still in intensive care

One of the four teenagers injured in an accident last month that killed a Centennial High School student remains hospitalized.

Emily McIntyre, 14, remains in serious condition in University Medical Center's pediatric intensive care unit. Lauren Ozawa, 14, was released Tuesday, and her sister, Jade Ozawa, 15, went home Monday.

Samantha Sneed, 15, was released from the hospital on Aug. 30, shortly after the accident that took her 16-year-old brother, Ryan Sneed's, life.

All of the teens went to Centennial.

Fumes send guests to hospital

Three adults and a 12-year-old child were taken to area hospitals Tuesday after chlorine was poured into a container normally used for muriatic acid, sending chemical fumes into the air at the Cancun Resort swimming pool on Las Vegas Boulevard South.

The Clark County Fire Department's hazardous materials unit responded with paramedics, fire department spokesman Bob Leinbach said.

"This was very minor, it was not life-threatening," Leinbach said.

One person was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson and three others to University Medical Center. All were treated and released.

Another 25 people were examined at the resort, Leinbach said.

No one was in the pool at the time.

Hotels sought for Amber alert

Clark County commissioners hope to involve Las Vegas Strip megaresorts in the amber alert system they expect to have working by year's end.

By offering radio and television stations descriptions of kidnapping suspects and running the information across lighted traffic signs above busy highways, the Amber alert system has played a critical role in solving cases in other areas.

Commissioner Erin Kenny said she hopes hotels will agree to place pertinent information on their massive signs along Interstate 15.

"Nevada wants to be a leader, not a follower," she said. "We want the bad guys to know they ought not come here because we will catch you."

Help sought in finding man

Metro Police are asking the public for help in locating Leslie Arnold, 68, last seen at his senior care home on Russell Road.

Staff at Village Oaks Senior Home, 3025 E. Russell, reported seeing Arnold leave the property about 8 a.m. on Monday heading westbound on the street.

Arnold has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and also suffers from dementia. He is in need of medication.

Arnold was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, dark pants and a tan jacket.

Anyone with information about Arnold is asked to call Metro's missing person's detail at 229-2907.

Phony trader gets 27 months

A Las Vegas man who posed as a stockbroker and conned residents into giving him about $1 million was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 27 months in prison.

Alejandro Sardinia was also ordered to pay $867,638 in restitution to his victims.

Sardinia, 38, was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2000 and pleaded guilty to wire fraud in May of this year. Sardinia told investors that he was an experienced day-trader, and would pool their money to invest in stocks.
