Class teaches how to protect children
United Studios of Self Defense, 8170 S. Eastern Ave., will offer a free anti-abduction child safety seminar from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday.
The studio will teach parents and children abduction awareness, child-safety tips and general safety guidelines. Parents and children will see and learn exactly what can be done to prevent abductions, and what to do if someone attempts to abduct a child.
Metro Police will be on hand offering free fingerprinting for all children and answer any questions.

Ballroom dance workshops set
The U.S. Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association will give dance workshops from 12:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Moyer Student Union.
Admission is $20 for members and $35 for nonmembers, which includes workshops and a celebration ball.

NLV Library offers computer classes
The North Las Vegas Library District is offering free computer classes from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 17 and Dec. 5 at Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane.
Learn how to use a computer, use the keyboard, send e-mail to a friend, surf the World Wide Web, use the Internet to read the news, check the weather, or sign up for travel.
Class size is limited to 30 people. Preregistration is required. Call 839-2980 or visit the Northwest Branch Library, 4528 W. Craig Road, Suite 110.
All classes are taught by Library District staff members.

The North Las Vegas Library

A Bowl-A-Thon
