State officials facing scrutiny over tax breaks

State officials are facing questions about whether tax breaks should be awarded to companies expanding in or relocating to Nevada.
In Business Las Vegas, a sister newspaper to the Las Vegas Sun, reports this week that the Nevada Commission on Economic Development will soon begin a review of the fairness of business assistance programs that offer tax incentives to companies expanding or moving to the state.
In some cases, companies looking to move to Nevada are getting tax breaks that give them a competitive advantage over competitors already based in the state, critics say.
