Letter: Let’s cut ties with worthless U.N.
Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 | 4:56 a.m.
After listening to the president's speech at the United Nations on Thursday I can't help wondering why America continues to remain a member of such a useless organization. President Bush enumerated all the sanctions that Iraq has ignored since Saddam Hussein signed the peace agreement after being defeated and routed.
Not that I can't help thinking of all the billions of American dollars that have gone to the U.N., and the lives of our American service people lost fighting foreign countries to no avail.
If the United Nations cannot do anything to force Iraq to reveal any and all weapons of mass destruction, then I can't help but think it is "useless."
How many other countries have we gone into and found that no good has been accomplished, but lives of our troops were sacrificed, and money and munitions squandered? I say get us out of the U.N. and the U.N. out of the United States.
