LV flights to 3 cities trimmed

Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 | 11:19 a.m.

America West Airlines eliminated service -- at least temporarily -- last week between Las Vegas and Hartford, Conn., and Indianapolis, and reduced service between Las Vegas and Minneapolis.

An airline spokeswoman said the company would re-evaluate the seasonal cutbacks to Indianapolis and Minneapolis in the spring, but there are no plans to reinstate the four weekly round trips to Hartford that were cut.

In addition to cutting a daily round trip to Indianapolis, the airline is reducing service from daily to three times a week to Minneapolis.

No other airline provides nonstop service to and from Hartford. American Trans Air and Southwest Airlines each have one daily round trip to Indianapolis. Northwest Airlines has four round trips a day and Sun Country Airlines offers five flights a week to Minneapolis.

America West, the No. 2 carrier at McCarran International Airport, averages 76 flights a day to and from Las Vegas to 33 markets.
