Information day set for academies
Academy Information Day to acquaint high school students with the armed services academies will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at the Durango High School theater, 7100 W. Dewey Drive.
Become acquainted with the Air Force, Military, Naval, and Merchant Marine academies and the procedure for seeking a congressional nomination.
Climb for Life scheduled Saturday
The PowerHouse Climbing Center and Desert Rock Sports will host the first HERA Climb for Life from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at 8201 W. Charleston Blvd.
The event will benefit the HERA Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to funding research and aiding women who are battling ovarian cancer.
Entry fee is $20, which includes a climbing lesson and gear. Prizes will be raffled throughout the day.

Kent Hovind, a leader in the creation science
movement, will speak at 6:30 p.m. today at Lake Mead Christian Academy, 540 E. Lake Mead Drive, Henderson. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 565-5831.
