Dorothy Charters
Dorothy Charters, 85, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born March 7, 1917, in Collingwood, Ontario. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, William Charters; one son, Gary Charters of Henderson; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Beverly Ann Fields
Beverly Ann Fields, 50, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 3, 1952, in Louisiana. A resident for nine years, she was a waitress.
She is survived by one son, Reginald; three daughters, Antoinette, Patricia and Alisha; four brothers, Charles, James, Percy and Robert; five sisters, Eddie Mae, Mattie Faye, Patsy Ruth, Patricia and Veranet; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-noon Monday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Leonard Friedman
Leonard Friedman, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 28, 1926, in Philadelphia. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired furniture salesman and an Army veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Harvey Friedman of Georgia, Scott Friedman of Pennsylvania and Fred Mahon of New Jersey; two stepsons, Tom Fleming of Nevada and David Fleming of California; two stepdaughters, Nancy Bauer of California and Mary Mosser of Nevada; one brother, George Friedman of New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 5701 N. Jones Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
Hyman Gitell
Hyman Gitell, 89, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 14 years, he was born Oct. 20, 1912, in Russia.
He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Katz of Henderson; two sons, Gerald Gitell of Las Vegas and Herbert Gitell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
Virgil T. Hickey
Virgil T. Hickey, 101, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 26, 1901, in Tennessee. A resident for 10 years, he was a farmer.
He is survived by five sons, Ernest Hickey of Michigan, Gene Hickey of Chandler, Ariz., W. Herbert Hickey of Las Vegas and Bill Hickey and Bob Hickey, both of Ortonville, Mich.; two sisters, Dora Farstvedt of Ortonville and Treva Hanson of Mio, Mich.; and 26 grandchildren.
Burial will be in Tennessee. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Evelyn F. Kellogg
Evelyn F. Kellogg, 90, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired draftsman in the telecommunications industry.
She is survived by one son, Richard L. Kellogg of Henderson; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will be in Illinois.
The family suggests donations to Alzheimer's Association, Southern Nevada Chapter, 5190 S. Valley View Blvd., Suite 101, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
Genevieve Kauffman
Genevieve Kauffman, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Syracuse, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired production worker for a manufacturing firm.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas J.; five daughters, Lillian Marcott of Golden Valley, Ariz., Genevieve Coker of Aurora, Mo., Theresa Row of Garden Grove, Calif., Hilda Matthews of Weippe, Idaho, and Michele Salgado of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Thomas Kauffman Jr. and Kenneth Kauffman, both of Syracuse; three sisters, Emma LaMoy of Syracuse, Margaret Payne of Liverpool, N.Y., and Elsye Hilburn of Sequin, Texas; one brother, Patrick Medler of Syracuse; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Irving 'Bop-Bop' Kestenbaum
Irving "Bop-Bop" Kestenbaum, 83, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in New York City. A resident for one year, he was a retired furniture manufacturer's representative, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, past president of B'nai B'rith and a member of Rockridge Golf Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Sloane of Henderson; one son, David Kestenbaum of Westlake Village, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in King David Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Stephanie Louise Koon
Stephanie Louise Koon, 52, of Las Vegas died Aug. 27 in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 15, 1949, in California. A resident for 15 years, she was an office receptionist for Sunrise Point.
She is survived by one brother, Michael of Washington state; and one sister, Angie of Arizona.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Sunrise Point Community Center, 4800 E. Cheyenne Ave. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Juanita A. Manning
Juanita A. Manning, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 10, 1930, in New Albany, Ind. A resident for 31 years, she was a civil service secretary for the Air Force, a member of Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Johnson of Las Vegas; three sons, Mike Manning, Doug Manning and Devin Manning, all of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.
Theodore 'Teddy Roosevelt' Morris
Theodore "Teddy Roosevelt" Morris, 44, of Las Vegas died Aug. 26 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 30, 1957, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a carpenter.
He is survived by one son, Eric Scott; his mother, Ida Morris; one brother, Calvin Wallace; and two sisters, Ada Glover and Delores Daniels.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Wilbur 'Bill' Sobel
Wilbur "Bill" Sobel, 85, of Las Vegas died Aug. 24 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Ohio. A resident for 12 years, he owned a men's apparel store, was a World War II Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, a member of Jewish War Veterans, Lions Club and city of San Fernando Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; two sons, Ronald Sobel of Beaverton, Ore., and Larry Sobel of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Abe Sparber of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Michael J. Theriault
Michael J. Theriault, 52, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 30, 1950, in Jacksonville, Fla. A resident for nearly 50 years, he was a retired steam plant operator for Nevada Power Co.
He is survived by his wife, Candy; one son, Ryan Theriault, one daughter, Jennifer Ledford, his mother, Sara Theriault, three brothers, Bruce Theriault, Jon Theriault and Mark Theriault, and one sister, Carol Coates, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Marjorie Vess
Marjorie Vess, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Maysville, Mo. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Robin; three daughters, Kolene Reynolds, Gina Merrell and Rhonda Schafer, and one son, Bobby Vess, all of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.
