Hansen’s name restored to ballot

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court today ordered Nicholas Hansen's name restored to the ballot as a candidate for constable in Henderson.
The court overruled District Judge Sally Loehrer, who ruled Hansen, 20, did not meet the requirements that say he must be a peace officer when he assumes office, if he were to be elected.
Hansen cannot be certified as a peace officer until he reaches the age of 21.
The Supreme Court said today that peace officer status is automatically conferred upon constables when they are elected and no additional requirement is needed.
