International Game Technology affiliate Automated Wagering International Inc. has changed its name to IGT Online Entertainment Systems Inc. to reflect its focus on developing games for the online lottery market.
Reno-based IGT, the world's largest slot machine maker, acquired New Jersey-based AWI, along with sister companies VLC and United Tote, as a result of last year's merger with Anchor Gaming Inc. VLC and Tote will keep their names, as both companies have strong brand recognition in their markets, the company said.
All three companies will remain a part of IGT's lottery division, which is headed by Christer Roman.
Anchor had taken losses last year to cover the costs of restructuring AWI.
