Letter: Slowpokes must move to the right
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 | 9:21 a.m.
A driver who intentionally drives slower than the flow of traffic, in the left lane of a highway, should lose his driving privileges. The reasoning of not moving to the right, just to avoid the possible merging of traffic, shows the lack of skill and intelligence of a driver.
A Nevada drivers' handbook is available at the DMV for anyone willing to be a safe driver.
Page 28 -- When entering a freeway, you yield right-of-way to traffic on the freeway.
Page 29 -- When there are two or more lanes of traffic moving in the same direction, slower traffic must move to the right and allow other drivers to pass.
Page 43 -- Stay with the flow of traffic. On freeways, slow drivers are as dangerous as speeders. If you must drive slowly, move to the right-hand lane. On these roads, you should leave the extreme left lane for faster traffic.
