America West Airlines, the second busiest air carrier at Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport, will begin nonstop round-trip flights between Las Vegas and Toronto in December.
It will be America West's first nonstop operation between Las Vegas and Canada and the company's second international flight from Las Vegas after inaugurating service to Mexico City earlier this year.
The Tempe, Ariz.-based carrier will offer four flights a week, Thursdays through Sundays, starting Dec. 26. Flights will leave McCarran International Airport at 11:34 p.m., arriving in Toronto at 6:45 a.m. the next day, and leave Toronto at 8:14 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 10 p.m.
The airline will use 124-passenger Airbus A319 twin-engine jets on the route.
America West will compete with Air Canada on the route, which has nine flights a week between Las Vegas and Toronto.
America West also said that its previously announced daily nonstop service between Las Vegas and Seattle began today with three round-trip flights.
