Miriam R. Chism

Miriam R. Chism, 60, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Havre, Mont. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired bookkeeper for Marine Cargo Shipping.

She is survived by her husband, Jack C.; one daughter, Kathleen Szabo of Pismo, Beach, Calif.; and two sisters, Marilyn Goodsell of Kalispell, Mont., and Denise Sirucek of Staples, Minn.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Parrissa 'Percy' Cox Sr.

Parrissa "Percy" Cox Sr., 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Visalia, Calif. A resident for six years, he was a retired sound engineer, head technician and projectionist for Visalia Sight and Sound and several theaters, and a World War II Army Air Corp veteran.

He is survived by one son, Curtis Cox, and one daughter, Joy Bond, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Frank Cox of Tucson; and two grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Alecia M. Ellis

Alecia M. Ellis, 47, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 8, 1955, in Columbus, Ga. A resident for 25 years, she was an administrative specialist and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, American Speech and Hearing Association, the Nevada State Hearing and Speech Association and the American Association of African American Speech and Hearing Patholog and Hearing Pathologists.

She is survived by two daughters, Carla Ellis and Natalie Smart, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Mattie Mitchell of Columbus; one brother, Ronald Mongomery; and three sisters, Brenda Willington of Riverdale, Ga., Barbara Rockwood of Fredericksburg, Va., and Paulette Cook of Riverdale.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

The family suggests donations to the families for Thical Autism Treatment.

Solita 'Lita' Garcia

Solita "Lita" Garcia, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born July 29, 1916, in Tangiers, Morocco. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Jack Beckierman; one daughter, Libby Fuccella of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane, followed by burial in King David Cemetery.

Doris D. Goldsmith

Doris D. Goldsmith, 91, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Fay, Okla. A resident for 34 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Norman Goldsmith of Las Vegas and Robert Goldsmith of Guthrie, Okla.; two sisters, Marthelma Biasi of Roslyn, N.Y., and Myrtle Lashbrook of Ontario, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Jacklyn Keefer

Jacklyn Keefer, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 26, 1928, in Utah. A resident for 70 years, she was a retired retail sales business owner.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Scharf of Henderson; one stepdaughter, Sherry Keefer of Costa Mesa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to the Shriners Children's Hospital.

Margret P. Kozak

Margret P. Kozak, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Philadelphia. A resident for eight years, she was a retired PBX operator.

She is survived by two daughters, Luann Will of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Beth Dienna of Las Vegas; three sons, Ray "Butch" Marvin of Quarryville, Pa., Ken Marvin of Auburn, Wash., and Glen Marvin of Logan, Utah; one brother, Jacob R. Paulson of West Chester, Pa.; one sister, Adeline Welsh of Millsboro, Del.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Edward G. Kramer

Edward G. Kramer, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Sparta, Wis. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired owner of a mobile home repair company, and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; four daughters, Susan Scheuber of Patterson, Calif., Paula Kreuger of Magalia, Calif., and Barbara Smith and Colleen Honea, both of Las Vegas; one son, Benard Kramer of Magalia; one sister, Dory Zimmerman, and one brother, Kenneth Kramer, both of Lacrosse, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., followed by graveside services in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Mary Ellen Van Nostrand

Mary Ellen Van Nostrand, 85, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Aberdeen, S.D. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired bookkeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynne Rote of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Betty Jaqua of Monroe, S.D., and Janet Ford of Wichita Falls, Texas.

A memorial service is scheduled 1 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Jackson Connor Owens

Jackson Connor Owens, 6 days old, of Henderson died Aug. 27 in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 2002, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Kelly and Teresa Owens, and one sister, Gabrielle Maheras, all of Henderson; and his grandparents, Jack and Samm Owens and Joseph and Loretta George, all of Las Vegas.

Frederic B. Platz

Frederic B. Platz, 57, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 10, 1944, in Madison, Wis. A resident for 11 years, he was a financial planner, Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; three daughters, Cindy Platz of Chicago and Wendy Wallace and Heidi Gottleib, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Salvatore Ragonese

Salvatore Ragonese, 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 19, 1946, in New York City. A resident for 26 years, he was a card dealer.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara.

Mable Lee Watkins

Mable Lee Watkins, 92, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 20, 1910, in Livingston, Ala. A resident for 58 years, she was an inspectress at the Four Queens.

She is survived by two daughters, Willie Lee Carpenter and Mary Alice Wilson, and one son, Clyde "Rabbit" Watkins, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday at American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
