Officer indicted on sex charges

A Metro Police officer was indicted on 20 charges in connection with a relationship with an underage girl.

Jason Woodard faces eight counts of sexual assault of a minor under 16, eight counts of statutory sexual seduction and four lewdness counts.

Woodard will be arraigned by District Judge Donald Mosley within the next two weeks.

According to police, Woodard sexually abused a girl several times when she was between the ages of 13 and 16. She is now 18.

"Mr. Woodard is looking forward to his day in court where he is sure he'll be vindicated," defense attorney David Chesnoff said.

Rape suspect is indicted

A 22-year-old Las Vegas man police believe may be a serial rapist has been indicted on 20 felony charges.

According to an indictment unsealed Friday, Xmeiga Koqnyto Gary now faces six counts of first-degree kidnapping, 11 sexual assault charges, two counts of robbery and one count of battery.

Gary will be arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Kathy Hardcastle. He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center without bail.

The indictment alleges Gary kidnapped and sexually assaulted five women and a teenage girl between July 11 and Aug. 14.
