Savvy wine buys: ‘01 Beringer White Zinfandel

Though this wine is neither white nor entirely zinfandel, it has been a terrific commercial success. And while it is true that most wine journalists and snobs tend to avoid it, occasionally, as is the case with this wine, it can be quite pleasant.

Beringer is one of the best California producers, so what you have is a pale, sweet wine that is best cold, made by the same winemakers who make wines for this label at more than 10 times the price.
