Four people bound in home invasions

In two home invasion robberies Tuesday in the Las Vegas Valley, four people were tied up and a dog was beaten, police said.

On 22nd Street near Searles Avenue in eastern Las Vegas, a man broke a window of an apartment about 6:15 a.m. and used curtain ribbons to tie up the three occupants, a 40-year-old woman, her 10-year-old daughter and 19-year-old son.

The robber used a semiautomatic handgun to threaten the victims, stole jewelry and some cash, then left through the front door. The victims were tied up for about 15 minutes, Metro Police Lt. Ted Snodgrass said. They were not hurt.

Police are looking for a black man, between the ages of 19 and 22, about 5 feet 10 with a thin build. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants, police said.

Another home invasion occurred about 5:45 a.m. in Henderson, police said.

Two masked men entered the back of a house in the 300 block of Sweetspice Street, tied up a 33-year-old woman and beat her dog with a baseball bat, Henderson Police said this morning. The intruders stole some property, although a police spokesman, Officer Shane Lewis, said it was not clear this morning what had been stolen.

The robbers fled the house, jumping over a back wall. The dog was taken to Henderson Animal Control, where it was treated and is expected to survive the injuries, police said.

The victim called police as the suspects were leaving the home, Lewis said. She wasn't injured.

Police are investigating how the intruders entered the house. There was no apparent damage to any doors or windows, Lewis said.

Police are looking for a white man, 5 feet 10 inches and 160 to 180 pounds, wearing a long sleeved black shirt, black pants and a black mask, and a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches with a heavy build, also wearing a black shirt, black pants, black mask and white tennis shoes.
