FORTH WORTH, Texas -- Former Dallas Cowboys player Larry Brown was released Monday from the Tarrant County Jail after agreeing to pay back nearly $44,000 in bad checks he is accused of writing at Las Vegas casinos, the Forth Worth Star-Telegram reported.
The 32-year-old former defensive back, who played six seasons for the Cowboys during the 1990s and was the Super Bowl MVP in 1996, was arrested Oct. 23 on outstanding warrants from Nevada, the newspaper said.
The Star-Telegram said efforts to reach him Tuesday were unsuccessful.
"He made some restitution," Dan Bowman, one of the two attorneys who runs the Clark County Bad Check Unit in Las Vegas, told the Fort Worth newspaper.
Brown was released when Clark County officials indicated that they would not seek extradition, Lt. Mack West of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department told the Texas newspaper.
Bowman told the newspaper that Brown made out 18 checks to casinos in Las Vegas between December 2001 and March.
