Ner Tamid's holiday bazaar set Sunday

The Sisterhood of Congregation Ner Tamid will present its annual Hanukkah Holiday Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 2761 Emerson Ave.

The community-wide bazaar, which is open to the public, will feature unique jewelry and crafts, Judaic items, a raffle, food and the Ms. Noodle Kugel Contest.

Annual Death Valley encampment scheduled

Preparations for the 53rd annual Death Valley 49er Encampment will begin 11 a.m. Sunday with pre-encampment at the Sunset Camp Ground in Death Valley National Park.

The annual encampment from Nov. 6 through Nov. 10 will honor the pioneers who arrived in 1849 and promote understanding and appreciation of Death Valley and its history.

Information on the 4x4 caravans (using your own vehicle) to explore the northern area of Death Valley Park on Monday and the Titus Canyon Tour on Wednesday will be distributed.

The event will include the Invitational Western Art Show, Old Time Fiddle Contest, gold panning, outdoor breakfasts, music by The Chaparrals, horseshoe and golf tournaments, old prospectors races, country jamboree, pioneer costume contest and a special screening of several "Death Valley Days" episodes filmed on location.

Vehicles will be inspected before departure. A CB is recommended to hear commentary by historians and geologists. A current membership is required.

Fitness progam is designed for women

Leora Myers, author of "Menopause & Beyond: A Fitness Plan for Life," will give women an opportunity to learn specific fitness and lifestyle techniques in a program Monday at the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330.

Participants will learn a non-pharmaceutical program to decrease menopause symptoms and improve health and well-being.

The program will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Myers will also sign her book after the class.

Coin drive to help special needs kids

Station Casinos and Variety -- the Children's Charity of Southern Nevada are raising funds for special needs children in Southern Nevada by conducting a two-weeklong coin drive now through Nov. 14.

Local residents are encouraged to leave their spare change at bins located near rewards centers at six participating Station Casino properties: Texas, Santa Fe, Boulder, Palace, Sunset and Green Valley Ranch.
