Metro Police have found the black Cadillac seen fleeing from the scene of a fatal shooting Friday morning at Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue.
The car, found over the weekend at Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street, just over a mile from the scene, was heavily damaged, Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said Monday.
The slaying occurred Friday morning in the parking lot of the Town and Country Manor apartment complex at 4311 Boulder Highway. Mario Gerald Mitchell, 27, was shot while in a silver Pontiac Grand Prix by a man believed to be driving a black Cadillac.
Mitchell managed to drive out of the parking lot, and hit several poles and cars before going over an embankment and crashing into a sign at the Sportsman's Royal Manor apartment house.
Police found Mitchell dead and two children, who were unharmed, in the car. They took the children, a 4-year-old and an infant, to Child Haven.
