The 4A state tennis finals in Reno are all-Sunset Region affairs.
On the boys side, Sunset top seed Bonanza made quick work of Galena, the top seed from the north, by a 30-15 final Thursday. The Bengals swept through singles play en route to the semifinal win.
They will take on Palo Verde, the second seed from the Sunset. The Panthers upset Sunrise top qualifier Silverado 28-17 to make the finals. Cameron Parker went 3-0 at No. 1 singles to pace Palo Verde.
Bishop Gorman and Palo Verde will square off for the girls state title. The Gaels dispatched top northern qualifier Galena 31-14 to again reach the state finals. Gorman did not drop a doubles match in the semifinal win over the Grizzlies.
Palo Verde upended Sunrise top seed Valley 26-19 to make the finals. Individual tournaments for boys and girls begin today.
