Corey Williams
School: Las Vegas
Class: Senior
Sport: Football
Last week: Williams, the Wildcats' top senior receiver, turned in an outstanding performance against Valley to lead Las Vegas to a comfortable win. The standout wideout, who is committed to Washington next fall, hauled in six passes for 101 yards against the Vikings, including scoring tosses of 51, 11, and 10 yards. "He's stepped up and proved that he's a big-time player, worthy of all the scholarship offers he got before the season," Las Vegas coach Kris Cinkovich said. For the season, Williams has caught 42 balls for 591 yards and nine touchdowns. He has also returned a kickoff and an interception for a score as well. Las Vegas is 7-0 and the top-ranked team in the Sun statewide prep poll.
Kelsey Johnson
School: Durango
Class: Junior
Sport: Volleyball
Last week: Johnson, a junior outside hitter for the Blazers, has performed consistently well all season long, but never were her contributions bigger than last week. Durango remained unbeaten in division play by besting rival and fellow Southwest power Bishop Gorman, thanks in part to Johnson's 12 kills against the Gaels. She then put down another 10 kills in a Blazers win over Sierra Vista. Johnson, who also competes for the Nevada Juniors club team, has been a key component on a Durango team that has earned national ranking recognition this year.
