UNLV baseball coach Jim Schossnagle has received a verbal commitment from one of the West Coast's top high school prospects.
Ryan Kowalski, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound shortstop from University High School in San Diego, said he will sign with the Rebels on Nov. 13, the first day of the early national letter of intent signing period.
Kowalski was rated the top utility player this summer at the prestigious Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif.
A first team all-CIF San Diego Section Division III pick, Kowalski hit .470 with two home runs and 13 stolen bases as a junior. He picked UNLV over Washington State, San Diego State and Hawaii.
