UNLV’s Kincaid could see action at BYU

UNLV's battered offensive line got some good news on Wednesday when starting tackle Keith Kincaid was cleared to resume full contact drills.

Kincaid had missed UNLV's last two games with a sprained right knee which was expected to keep him out up to six weeks. But he made quick progress and was back practicing in full gear on Wednesday night at Rebel Park, a little over two weeks after first suffering the injury.

"I took about 25 reps tonight and it felt good," Kincaid said. "I haven't talked to the trainers yet, so I don't know what's going to happen come Saturday (at BYU). But I got cleared for full contact, so that's good."

The return of Kincaid even in a backup role could be big for a UNLV offensive line that had just seven healthy players practicing at the beginning of the week. Kincaid's backup, freshman Zach Gorham, is scheduled to have an MRI today for a knee injury that will likely sideline him for a couple of weeks.

UNLV head coach John Robinson was cautiously uptimistic about Kincaid's return.

"I don't know how much he can play (at BYU), but he's getting back," Robinson said. "We'll definitely have him in a week. He might be able to finish the game (Saturday) or something like that. But it's pretty good news that he'll at least be in uniform for us. We don't have many subs."

Senior Eddie Freas is slated to start in place of Kincaid on Saturday.
