Thomas Kurtz is challenging incumbent Lisa Brown in Family Court Department J.
Kurtz, 50, is an alternate hearing master in Family Court and a referee for Justice Court. Kurtz says he understands that each person deserves the court's respect.
Brown, 38, who was elected in 2000, had her own family law office before becoming a deputy attorney general. She lists fairness and compassion as her strengths.
