Election 2002: County Commission District G
Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002 | 11:14 a.m.
Democrat Rory Reid, picked by his party to fill Dario Herrera's County Commission seat, went unopposed in the primary and faces Democrat Robert Tauber and Independent William Boyd Ballard. Herrera is running for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Reid, a 40-year-old attorney and son of Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., was selected by his party to take over the reins from Herrera.
Being the only representatives of their parties, Reid, Tauber and William Boyd Ballard watched the primary from the sidelines.
Tauber, 44, a government-reform consultant for more than 15 years, said his background will help to ensure fiscal accountability and organization at the county. As a member of the Clark County Health Access Consortium, one of his main concerns is health care for indigent residents.
Reid, former vice chairman of the Nevada Taxi-Cab Authority, is focused on improving transportation and promoting neighborhood safety.
Ballard did not return phone calls or a questionnaire from the Sun.
