Election 2002: Assembly District 7

Nine-term Assemblyman Morse Arberry Jr. garnered a nearly 3-to-1 victory in the Democratic primary and is squaring off against Republican Joanna Wesley.

She collected nearly six of every 10 votes cast in the GOP primary to earn a shot at Arberry to represent the urban district that encompasses West Las Vegas and parts of North Las Vegas.

Arberry, 49, is chairman of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee.

Wesley did not respond to the Sun's requests for information.

There are nearly 15,800 registered voters in the district, more than 9,900 Democrats and more than 3,500 Republicans.
