Election 2002: Assembly District 4
Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002 | 11:19 a.m.
Incumbent Republican Bob Beers will face Democrat Howard Wade Bycroft for the district seat that includes Sun City Summerlin and portions of northwest Las Vegas.
Beers, 43, a computer programmer and small-business owner, was first elected in 1998. He has served on the Ways and Means, Commerce and Labor and Elections Procedures and Ethics committees.
He was a supporter of medical malpractice insurance reform during the recent special session and served on the Select Committee on Medical Malpractice.
Bycroft, 32, is a Green Valley High School history teacher who makes education his top priority.
He seeks alternative revenue sources to help schools and the exploration of alternative energies to eventually reduce utility costs.
He has worked with inner-city children and AIDS patients on a volunteer basis.
There are more than 38,600 registered voters in the district, nearly 13,600 Republicans and more than 10,700 Democrats.
