COW Stampede features races, music
Classrooms on Wheels, a free, bilingual preschool and drug prevention program with parenting classes will hold its sixth annual COW Stampede and One-Mile Milk Run from 7:30 a.m. until noon Saturday beginning at Imprints Day School, 8185 Tamarus St.
The event includes a timed 5K race, a one-mile walk and a kids run.
Following the race, there will be a "COW"nty fair with food, door prizes, face painting and live music.
The entry fee to the One-Mile Milk Run is $17 before the race day; $30 the day of the event; $10 for the kids' race.

Bicycle ride will benefit McDonald House
The Las Vegas Century & Bikefest, a day-long charity event, will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, to benefit Ronald McDonald House and Clark County SafeKids Coalition.
Bicycle riders may choose from routes of 100, 62 or 37 miles. Riders will begin every half-hour, for the 100-miles with a 9 a.m. start.
The event will also offer a free bike rodeo for kids and an easy-paced, 10-mile Historic Ride for riders of all ages.
Registration is $45 for the 100-and 62-mile routes; $35 for the 37-mile ride; and $25 for the Historic Ride. All riders must wear helmets, and riders under 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult.

Safe Place plans sign sale to help kids
The Safe Place program will host its first sign sale through Oct. 31, to provide immediate help for young people under the age of 18 who are experiencing a crisis situation.
Any business or public location displaying the diamond shaped, yellow and black Safe Place sign is a designated location.
Paper signs will be available at all Terrible Herbst convenience stores and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus for $1 donation to Safe Place.

Employers sought for annual Stand Down
The Southern Nevada Homeless Coalition is looking for employers to participate in its job fair at the 10th annual Stand Down for the Homeless, Nov. 13 at Cashman Center.
Many of the participants in the job fair are educated and have skills. Stand Down for the Homeless allows individuals and receive respite, food and resources to help them survive.

Disability Awareness Day set Saturday
The Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living will host its 11th annual Disability Awareness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park.
The event will feature a complimentary wheelchair wash and minor tune-up, live entertainment, hot dogs and drinks, and the opportunity to try the lift on a Citizens Area Transit bus.
Also get a free custom-made lap board while you wait.

Seminar addresses Bible and history
Midbar Kodesh Temple and Temple Beth Sholom will present Kenneth A. Kitchen, who will bring his knowledge of ancient history to discuss "How Reliable Is the Bible" at 7 p.m. Thursday at Midbar Kodesh Temple, 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway.
Kitchen, professor emeritus at the University of Liverpool, is an Egyptologist who will offer his controversial opinion in rebutting views of the historical minimalists in presenting a realistic assessment of what was and what might have been.

featuring vintage automobiles from Southern Nevada Model T Club will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at The Bridge Assisted Living, 2205 E.
