False alarm shuts down McCarran’s D Gates
Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 | 9:30 a.m.
A terminal at McCarran International Airport was briefly closed Wednesday to allow authorities to investigate a possible security breach at a checkpoint.
Passengers were held outside the D Gate checkpoint, and passengers were not permitted to get off planes for about 20 minutes, Debbie Millett, spokeswoman for the airport, said this morning.
Federal screeners determined the incident was a false alarm, and normal operations resumed about noon.
"It was really minor," Millett said, adding that the terminal was not evacuated and no passengers missed any flights, Millett said.
