Two women injured after SUV crashes into casino entrance

ALTOONA, Iowa -- An agitated man driving a sport utility vehicle crashed through a set of double doors at a casino, injuring two women, authorities said.

"It sounded like an explosion and then everyone ran to the escalators to see what happened," said patron Leona Mansaw, who was on the second floor of the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino on Saturday night.

Two women standing in the lobby were injured after the driver shattered a concrete planter outside and shattered the glass double doors.

Ardeth Klobnak, 48, was in critical condition Sunday with several broken bones and internal injuries. Sandra Veach, 59, was in fair condition.

Police would not comment on what caused Douglas Lee Kinney to crash into the building. "He was obviously agitated," Police Chief John Gray said. Kinney, 54, was hospitalized in good condition Sunday.
