Edwards and son ordered to different prisons

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Former Gov. Edwin Edwards and his son Stephen have been ordered to different federal prisons in Texas to serve their terms for shaking down riverboat casino owners and applicants.
Edwards is to serve his 10-year sentence in Fort Worth and Stephen Edwards, sentenced to seven years, is going to Beaumont, Edwards' paralegal, Mary Jane Marcantel, said Friday.
U.S. District Judge Frank Polozola has ordered Edwards, 75, and his son to report to prison by Oct. 21. The Fort Worth prison has a medical facility.
A jury in May 2000 convicted the Edwardses and three other men of shaking down riverboat casino owners and applicants.
