Family of Unity program on Oct. 12

The third annual Arts in the Community / Family of Unity multicultural program will be held Oct. 12 at the County Government Center amphitheater.

This year's event, to be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., will feature groups presenting Asian, Polynesian and South Pacific cultures.

The educational and entertaining program is designed to help different ethnic groups preserve their identifies through arts and culture.

Bless-A-Block outreach visits LV

The national Bless-A-Block outreach will hold a community event 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Wal-Mart parking lot at Cheyenne Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard.

Registration begins at 9. The Rev. David Bennett and his wife, Lisa, a Las Vegas native, have been touring cities worldwide distributing food, clothing and shoes.
