Prostitute gets 12 years in robbery

A Las Vegas prostitute who made headlines when he sexually assaulted a teenage murder defendant was sentenced to 12 years in prison Thursday in a robbery case.

Reginald Fox, 29, was found guilty two months ago of robbing the A Action adult book and video store on First Street while wearing a dress.

Fox had claimed that a real woman had robbed the store along with Victor Duane Holmes, but police officers found the dress he had been wearing in his apartment moments after the May robbery.

Jurors also learned Fox had been arrested for prostitution while wearing a dress in the past.

On Thursday, District Judge John McGroarty gave Fox a 12-year prison sentence with parole possible after six years, noting the defendant's lengthy criminal record.

Holmes is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 21.

District Judge Joseph Bonaventure had placed Fox on three years' probation March 27, 2000, after Fox admitted he had oral sex with Conan Pope while locked up in the Clark County Detention Center. Pope had been charged with killing his father.

Three days later Fox was back behind bars on a drug paraphernalia charge.

Bonaventure ended up giving Fox 2 1/2 years in prison after the probation violation, with parole possible after one year.
