Trace roots
The Cultural Affairs Division of City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services presents "Trace Your Family Roots," for ages 17 and older, at 3 p.m. Saturday at West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.
Aviation Nation
Nellis Air Force Base hosts an air show beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the base. Parking will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 6001 Las Vegas Blvd. North with shuttles taking visitors to the base. The Thunderbirds, the Army's Golden Knights and the Marine's Harrier unit will perform. Admission is free. 652-4473.
Parish festivities
St. Christopher Catholic Church holds its annual Parish Bazaar 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1840 N. Bruce St. Admission is free. 642-1154.
Children
A children's benefit, starring Lance Burton, in collaboration with the Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy and the City of Hope Cancer Center, will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lance Burton Theatre in the Monte Carlo. Tickets are $20, $25, $36, $50, and $100. The $100 ticket includes a VIP reception after the show and the opportunity for children to go up on the stage with Burton. 255-4500.

Mat "The Condor" Hoffman will sign copies of his autobiography, "The Ride of My Life," 5 p.m. Monday at Borders Books and Music, 1445 W. Sunset Road. Admission is free. 433-6222.

Dinner
Nevada Ballet Theatre and Gustav present a series of opening night dinners and celebrations beginning 5 p.m. today at OXO in JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. All dinners are priced at $75 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Nevada Ballet Theatre. 243-2623.
Sportscards
Power Play Sportscards presents a "Sportscards and Collectibles Show" 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Castaways, 2800 E. Fremont St. Admission is free. 459-7529.
Downtown
Las Vegas' Cultural Affairs Division and the Las Vegas Arts Commission, in an effort to revitalize downtown and enhance its cultural atmosphere, will create several programs starting at 6 tonight. Galleries, businesses, shops and restaurants have expanded their hours on Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m. 229-4733.
'On Mission'
The Southern Baptist Association presents an "On Mission Celebration" featuring a festival with free food, games, entertainment and ministry booths at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Park, Sunset at Eastern. Admission is free. 732-4171.
Family Film Fest
Clark County Parks and Community Services Department continues its "Friday Family Film Fest" with a screening of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" at 8:15 tonight at Desert Breeze, 8425 Spring Mountain Road. Admission is free; bring blankets or short lawn chairs for seating. 455-8800.
Talks
Programs about the late German actress and conservationist, Vera Krupp (also owner of the famous Krupp Diamond), will be presented at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Park entrance fees are $5 per vehicle. Program is free. 875-4141.
Tournament
The Sahara Hotel hosts the 18th Annual International Tournament of Champions 8 a.m. Wednesday through Oct. 13 at Las Vegas Radio Control Flying Field on the north side of Silver Bowl Stadium at Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue. Admission is free. 737-2503 or 737-2525.
