John P. Barberio

John P. Barberio, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Madison, Pa. A resident for 54 years, he retired as a pit boss from the Desert Inn after 40 years.

He is survived by one son, Alan Barberio of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Elodie Barberio of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Marie Sastare of Pennsylvania; and one brother, Dr. Roland Barberio of California.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Dick Brunke

Dick Brunke, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Kansas. A resident for 12 years, he was an airline mechanic and Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons, Richard Brunke of Marino Valley, Calif., and Michael Brunke and Bob Brunke, both of Alaska; two daughters, Dona Woodward and Susan Leigh, both of Marino Valley; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.

Loretta T. Bukowski

Loretta T. Bukowski, 69, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Goliad County, Texas. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired waitress and a member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by one son, Richard David Bukowski Jr., two daughters, Abbie L. Reagan and Jerry L. Greer, and one sister, Roberta Graham, all of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Lonnie Lee 'Opie' Deal

Lonnie Lee "Opie" Deal, 25, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 12, 1977, in Las Vegas. A resident for 25 years, he was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by one son, Trystin Lee Deal of Pahrump; his mother, Gaylene Deal, and one sister, Shelby Deal, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Jim and Pat Deal and Jack Shannon, all of Las Vegas, and Gaynor and Gloria Hansen of Salt Lake City.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the LDS Tule Springs Stake Center. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 5701 N. Jones Blvd.

Richard Lee Deal

Richard Lee Deal, 48, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 24, 1954, in Henderson. A resident for 48 years, he was a rock crusher technician and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by his wife, Gaylene; one daughter, Shelby Deal, his parents, Jim and Pat Deal, one brother, and two sisters, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in the LDS Tule Springs Stake Center. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Barbara Louise Diekmann

Barbara Louise Diekmann, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1938, in California. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired keno writer.

She is survived by two sons, Toby Minter and Michael Mayfield; two daughters, Laurie Minter and LeAnn Lennon; her mother, D'Esta McAtee; three brothers, Robert, Alfred and Tommy Montes; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Thursday at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 5825 El Dorado St. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Cloma Dale Gunther

Cloma Dale Gunther, 83, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Valley, Neb. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Kelly Carson of Boise, Idaho, Lynnda Oliveira of Kingman, Ariz., and Donna Gunther of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Joseph Heath

Joseph Heath, 53, of Las Vegas died Sept. 5 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 8, 1948, in California. A resident for many years, he was an armed security officer.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Edward L. Heidema

Edward L. Heidema, 63, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Huntley, Mont. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired railroad engineer and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his significant other, Jan Klingensmith; one son, Richard Heidema of Las Vegas; his mother, Inga Heidema of Seattle; two brothers, Lew Heidema and Jack Heidema, both of Henderson; one sister, Dorothy Wallis of Seattle; and three grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson is handling private arrangements.

Chesler J. Holcombe

Chesler J. Holcombe, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Alpharetta, Ga. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired retail department manager and a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, June; one son, James Holcombe of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lois Holcombe and Reeba Mathews, and one brother, Shearman Holcombe, all of Alpharetta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 5701 N. Jones Blvd.

Danny Michael Johnson

Danny Michael Johnson, 39, of Las Vegas died Sept. 22 in a local hospital. He was born July 31, 1963, in Chicago. A resident for three years, he was disabled.

He is survived by his father, Danny Anderson of Chicago; his mother and stepfather, Sandra Anderson and Freddie Williams; one daughter, Michelle Johnson of Muncie, Ind.; four sons, Michael Johnson and Daniel Johnson, both of Muncie, Daquon Johnson and Aikil Johnson, both of Las Vegas; his companion, Linetta Spears of Chicago; one brother, Johnny Anderson of Detroit; and two sisters, Tammy Anderson of Las Vegas and Angelia Anderson of Detroit.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11:30 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., handled arrangements.

Bruce J. Lutomski

Bruce J. Lutomski, 42, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1960, in Milwaukee. A resident for 23 years, he was a display coordinator and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by one son, Bruce J. Lutomski II, his companion, Belinda A. St. John, his parents, Geraldine M. and Joseph D. Lutomski, and two sisters, Gail B. Freeman and Cheryl M. Lutomski, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Jean M. Mileski

Jean M. Mileski, 73, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Escanaba, Mich. A resident for six years, she was a retired telephone operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Steockliene of Rosemeade, Calif.; one son, Paul Mileski of California; four sisters; three brothers; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Albert James 'A.J.' Rayburn

Albert James "A.J." Rayburn, 80, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Aug. 31 in Anchorage. A former Las Vegas resident, he retired from Caesars Palace as a security chief in 1990, was a World War II Army veteran who served in the 1st Battalion 134th Field Artillery Division and the Navy, and during the Vietnam War he was a civilian chief cargo operations manager in Vietnam. He was a heavy equipment mechanic, a certified instructor of the National Rifle Association, a professional clown and a volunteer parking monitor for Metro Police.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda D. Ronan of Anchorage and Sandra Thompson of Fairbanks, Alaska; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jon Jayson Edwards Segura

Jon Jayson Edwards Segura, 20, of Henderson died Sept. 26 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 28, 1981, in the Philippines.

He is survived by one son, Coby Jon Nucum of Fairfield, Calif.; two brothers, Patrick E. Segura and David E. Segura, both of Henderson; three sisters, Mabel E. Segura and Alexis E. Segura, both of Guam, and Nannette N. Segura of Henderson; and his grandparents, Maria C. Segura of Las Vegas and Caridad C. Edwards of the Philippines.

Helen Bramwell Thrasher

Helen Bramwell Thrasher, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born May 19, 1939, in New Bedford, Mass. A resident for 11 years, she was a retired registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Harrison S.; two sons, Sandy Thrasher of New York and Stuart Thrasher of New Orleans; one daughter, Jennifer Pettit of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Peter Bramwell of New Bedford; one sister, Paula Gill of Dartmouth, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Marvin "Gene" Trump, 82, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Sunday in Grand Junction. A former Las Vegas, he was a sheet metal worker.

He is survived by his wife, Myrnellis; three brothers, Melburn Trump of Aumsville, Ore., Earl Trump of Snohomish, Wash., and Bob Trump of Salem, Ore.; and one sister, Patsy Ginther of Salem.

James R. Van Ooyen

James R. Van Ooyen, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday. He was born June 22, 1936, in Milwaukee. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired truck driver and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Jamie Hayter of Madison, Wis., and Wendy Lyons of Las Vegas; two sons, Jimmy Van Ooyen of Hortonville, Wis., and Richard Kahl of Madison, Wis.; two sisters, Anita Vogel of Milwaukee, Wis., and Maryanne Reinke of Commerce, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
