Letter: Tax increase was a bargain

I read with interest the Sept. 25 letter by Jan Storm. He says his memory is pretty much intact despite some senior moments.

I, too, have some senior moments but my memory of the 1/4 of 1 percent sales tax increase differs greatly from his. It had nothing to do with "saving our region's water agency."

Our growth had reached the breaking point on supplying water to the Las Vegas Valley. Thanks to some people who do plan ahead, we now have a beautiful new state-of-the-art water treatment facility on the Henderson side of the River Mountain. We have a new southern lateral supplying treated water to the southern valley developments and, more importantly, it was accomplished without scarring up the face of the mountains.

For this taxpayer, I belive the 1/4 of 1 percent was a bargain.
